Rules
What you can make here, and what you cannot.
The short version
- Upload footage you have the right to use. Your own streams, recordings and podcasts, and other people's only with permission.
- The people in your footage are people. No harassment, no exposing private information, no sexual content involving anyone who did not agree to it, and never anything involving children.
- Do not use the tool to deceive: no clips cut or captioned to make someone appear to say or do what they did not.
- If we find a run that breaks these rules we remove it, and we may close the account. You can appeal.
GambitClip turns your long videos into short clips. Most of what people make here is their own gaming, streaming and talking, and none of this page applies to it. The rules exist for the rare case where the tool is pointed at something it must not be used for. We decide how the rules are read, and we update them as the product grows; the date at the top changes when we do.
1. Rights to the footage
Not allowed
- Uploading footage you do not have the right to use: other people's streams, videos, broadcasts, films or music, unless you have their permission or the law clearly allows the use.
- Removing a watermark, credit or rights notice from footage that is not yours.
Allowed
- Your own recordings, and recordings you took part in where the other people are fine with it.
- Footage a creator or rights holder gave you permission to clip, for example a streamer whose clip channel you run.
2. The people in the footage
Not allowed
- Clips made to harass, bully, threaten or intimidate a person, or to organise others to do so.
- Exposing someone's private information: home address, phone number, identity documents, passwords, private messages, or their identity where they are anonymous.
- Sexual or intimate imagery of anyone who has not clearly agreed to it being shared, and any threat to share such imagery.
- Anything sexual involving a minor, in any form, real or generated. We report it to the authorities.
- Content that attacks people for their race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sex, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age or health.
Allowed
- Banter between friends on a call, arguments, reactions and jokes, which is most of what this tool clips.
- Commentary, criticism and reporting, including of public figures, as long as it stays within the rules above.
3. Deception
Not allowed
- Cutting, re-ordering or captioning footage so that a real person appears to say or do something they did not, when a viewer would take it as real.
- Fake endorsements, fabricated news, and fake giveaways, investment offers or other scams.
- Impersonating a person, a channel or a brand in a way that could mislead viewers.
Allowed
- Obvious jokes, parody and edits that no reasonable viewer would take as real, or that are labelled as edited.
4. Violence, crime and dangerous acts
Not allowed
- Threats of violence, calls to violence, or praise of violent or criminal acts against real people.
- Instructions for committing crimes or hurting people, and content promoting dangerous acts likely to cause serious injury.
- Selling or promoting illegal goods and services, including drugs, weapons and unlicensed gambling or financial services.
- Graphic content that promotes self-harm, suicide or eating disorders.
Allowed
- Video games. Gameplay is fiction, and violence inside a game is not violence against a person.
- Documentary, educational, awareness and news content about these subjects.
5. The service itself
Not allowed
- Trying to break into, overload, scrape, reverse-engineer or abuse the service, or to get around limits, security measures or payment.
- Uploading malware or using the service to distribute it.
- Sharing an account, reselling access, or creating accounts to evade a suspension.
6. What we do, and how you appeal
When we find a run that breaks these rules, or someone reports one, we look at it and we remove the run if the report holds. For serious or repeated cases we suspend or close the account. We tell you what we did and why, and we tell the person who reported it that we acted. Content that is illegal, or that puts someone in danger, is removed first and explained after.
To appeal, reply to the notice you received, or email hello@gambitclip.com with the subject "Appeal", within 30 days. A person who was not involved in the first decision reviews it and answers within 14 days. If you are in the EU you can also take the matter to a certified out-of-court dispute body under the Digital Services Act, or to court.
